No visit to Arizona would be complete without a stop at Canyon de Chelly National Monument, one of the longest continuously inhabited landscapes in North America. From the early Anaszi basket makers to the Navajo Tribe that farms there today, this monument reflects the historical significance of America’s first inhabitants.

If you want to climb A Mountain in Tempe, then set your feet on the path though Hayden Butte Preserve. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes and a water bottle for your daytime hike overlooking Tempe Town Lake and downtown Tempe. Wander past the carved and painted “A” for ASU, and keep an eye out for native petroglyphs left by the Hohokam.
